#4 UNC (37-10, 16-9) stifled #16 NC State’s (32-16, 15-9) bats in Game 1 of a three-game series this evening, cruising to an 8-1 win in Chapel Hill.
The Wolfpack managed just one run on five hits, while the Tar Heels racked up eight runs on 12 hits.
Sophomore Ryan Marohn, who normally starts Game 3, got the nod this evening, and the result was a rough transition. Marohn gave up seven runs (five earned) in 6.1 innings, picking up his first loss since March 30th.
Junior outfielder Josh Hogue’s solo home run in the top of the 1st produced the only run of the evening for the Wolfpack.
