The internet has become an essential part of our daily lives, and it is hard to imagine a world without it. However, in Zimbabwe, the internet has not always been readily available to its citizens. The history of the internet in Zimbabwe is a story of challenges, setbacks, and progress.

In the early 1990s, the Zimbabwean government recognized the importance of the internet and started to invest in its development. The first internet service provider (ISP) in Zimbabwe, MWeb, was established in 1995. However, the internet was still a luxury that only a few could afford. The cost of internet access was high, and the infrastructure was limited.
