Rangers Fined $250k After Releasing Statement Ripping NHL over Tom Wilson Punishment

The NHL fined the New York Rangers $250,000 on Thursday for their statement that called for the firing of NHL Head of Player Safety George Parros.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman released a statement in which the fine was announced:

After Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson received only a $5,000 fine and no suspension for punching Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head and injuring Rangers forward Artemi Panarin during Monday's game, the Rangers released the following statement, per Adam Gretz of NBC Sports:

"The New York Rangers are extremely disappointed that Capitals forward Tom Wilson was not suspended for his horrifying act of violence last night at Madison Square Garden.
