NHL Recaps: Panthers double up Caps, Knights heating up, and more

The NHL schedule for Thursday night featured eight games with playoff implications.

In Carolina, the Hurricanes easily beat the Montreal Canadiens to increase their first-place lead in the Metro Division as the New Jersey Devils fell to the St. Louis Blues.

Things are heating up in the Atlantic Division with the Florida Panthers doubling up the Washington Capitals to pull even with them at 62 points for the final wild card spot in the East. The Detroit Red Wings also won their fifth straight and are two points out of the wild card as well.

Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights are heating up with their fourth straight victory to hold onto first in the Pacific Division.
