Nathan MacKinnon Injury Gives Avalanche 'High' Level of Concern, Jared Bednar Says

The Colorado Avalanche are concerned about the seriousness of an injury to All-Star center Nathan MacKinnon.

The team announced Tuesday that MacKinnon won't play against the Calgary Flames because of an upper-body injury.

Head coach Jared Bednar told reporters MacKinnon is going back to Denver for further evaluation and there is a "high" level of concern about the injury.

Bednar added it is "possible" MacKinnon suffered the injury from a fight during Sunday's 3-2 loss against the Minnesota Wild.
