Ex-NHL Player Scot Kleinendorst Dies at 59 from Paper Plant Workplace Injuries

Former NHL defenseman Scot Kleinendorst died Tuesday at the age of 59 as a result of injuries suffered at his workplace.

According to the Associated Press (h/t USA Today), Kleinendorst suffered "severe brain trauma and numerous broken bones" in a Dec. 7 accident at UPM Blandin paper plant in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Kleinendorst's family released the following statement: "Making the decision to let Scot pass was extremely hard, because of the unspeakable grief and unfillable void we now have to endure. However, making this decision was easy when it came to what Scot would ask us to do for him if he could.
