Who Are the Highest-Paid NFL Quarterbacks in 2021?

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on stadiums, NFL teams have to deal with a lower salary cap of $182.5 MM this season. Managers will however have to find a way to fairly compensate their top players.

The list of the highest-paid NFL quarterbacks is subject to regular change as evidenced by the shakeup of the 2020 offseason. There’s one constant though; the most lucrative salaries are often given to quarterbacks, offensive tackles, and pass-rushers.

With Dak Prescott set to sign a record deal with the Dallas Cowboys, let's take a look at the other highest-paid NFL quarterbacks in 2021. Here are their salaries.

Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes plays for the Kansas City Chiefs and has an average annual value of $45 million. This 24-year-old is about to become the first NFL player to be worth $200 million after he negotiated a 10-year contract extension.

With such a great deal, it wouldn't be a surprise if he topped this list for a couple of seasons.

Deshaun Watson
Deshaun Watson is a Houston Texans quarterback with an average annual value of $39 million. Despite being a great player, the Texans took their sweet time renewing his contract. He however signed a contract extension of 4 years right before the season started. But now the question is whether or not he'll be traded this offseason.

Deshaun received a $27 million signing bonus and is expected to earn around $156 million, almost half of which is guaranteed. It’s common knowledge that he is disgruntled with the Houston Texans, which makes us wonder if he might sign with a different team.

Russell Wilson
This quarterback plays for the Seattle Seahawks and has an average annual value of $35 million. Russell Wilson was the highest-paid NFL quarterback before the 2020 NFL season. Why is he third on the list?

Here's where it gets interesting; in 2019, he signed a 4-year contract extension that earned him a $65 million signing bonus. It however has no limited guarantee and as the 2021 offseason begins, he doesn't have any guaranteed money left on his contract.

Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has an average annual value of $34 million. If this list was based on a cap hit in 2021 then he would’ve topped it with $41.25 million. His 2-year contract extension is ending this year and at the time of signing, he earned a $68 million bonus.

It’s projected that Roethlisberger will carry 22.8% of his team’s salary cap so there might be a new extension coming.

Jared Goff
Jared Goff is a quarterback who has signed with the Los Angeles Rams and has an AAV of 33.5 million. Before the 2021 offseason began, he was traded to the Detroit Lions where he’s expected to be paid around $26 million over 4 years.

This contract extension was a result of him leading his team to a Superbowl.

Are You Ready for the 2021 Offseason?

The highest-paid NFL quarterbacks list is always changing and we can't wait to see what's in store. One thing is certain though, you should expect to see Patrick Mahomes for a couple of seasons after the deal he signed.
