Without Saquon Barkley, the Giants Go to Plan B

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Wayne Gallman has replaced a Giants running back before, when he stepped in as a rookie two years ago.

The difference between then and now is that the starter two years ago was Paul Perkins, who had rushed for 61 yards on 30 carries in four games before he injured his ribs, not the second-year All-Pro Saquon Barkley.

As the Giants (1-2) prepared to play the Washington Redskins (0-3) at home on Sunday, Coach Pat Shurmur said on Thursday that the plan was for Gallman to carry the load until Barkley returns.
