One of the NFL's better offensive lines will be without its best performer until December.

Washington LT Trent Williams has been suspended four games without pay for violating the league's policy on substance abuse, the NFL announced Tuesday. Williams also served a four-game suspension for the same violation in 2011.

Williams, 28, started the first eight games for Washington, anchoring a strong pass protection group for Kirk Cousins and the NFL's No. 2 aerial attack. His ban comes just as Cousins seemed to be finding his groove, having thrown for a career-high 458 yards in the club's Week Eight tie versus Cincinnati in London.
