When Mike Mularkey said the Titans were going to run an “exotic smashmouth” offense, it became the butt of Twitter jokes.
Hand it to Mularkey — he hasn’t wavered from the run-first strategy, and it has paid off for the most part. A young Titans offense has the team still in the thick of things in the AFC South as they had to Chicago this Sunday to face the Bears.
“We know our guys believe in our philosophy. I know it's not the day of age of this NFL to some people, but you’ve got a lot of old school coaches here that believe in it,” Mularkey said Wednesday on a conference call.
