With their second of two first-round choices, the Saints selected one of the faster linebackers in the Class of 2015.
Clemson’s Stephone Anthony, timed at 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Combine, was the pick for New Orleans at No. 31.
As a senior, Anthony (6-3, 243) notched 90 tackles (10.5 for loss). Overall, he racked up 330 tackles, 9.5 sacks and three picks in four seasons with the Tigers.
Anthony likely will play inside linebacker in the Saints’ 3-4 scheme; at the least, he’ll provide depth behind veterans David Hawthorne, Dannell Ellerbe and Ramon Humber, and he could push to start right off the bat.
