Even though there were no indications Drew Brees was going anywhere, the 41-year-old will return to the New Orleans Saints in 2020.
Brees announced his decision to return for his 14th season with the Saints via Instagram on Tuesday:
The Saints star agreed to a two-year contract in March 2018 that guaranteed him $27 million and will see that deal through to the end. He was due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason before announcing his return to New Orleans.
Brees' decision comes as no surprise.
