Safeties a cause for concern for Tom Coughlin

The Giants drafted two safeties this year to bolster a weak spot on their roster and saw both of them go down with injuries in the first half of their first preseason game of the year.

One of the two won’t be back this season. Fifth-round pick Mykkele Thompson tore his Achilles, which leaves him with a future on the injured reserve list while he recovers for many months to come. Second-round pick Landon Collins suffered an MCL sprain, which could make a return in time to play in the opening week tough for him to pull off.
