The Atlanta Falcons have traded for New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport .
The Patriots will receive a seventh-round pick in exchange for Smith. Trading Smith frees up an additional $3.6 million in cap space for New England, according to PatsCap .
The New England Patriots signed Smith to a four-year, $50 million deal in 2021. His two years in New England were his worst by DYAR and DVOA since his rookie season. Smith finished bottom-five in both categories in each of the last two seasons.
