Packers' Lacy, Shields will not return from IR

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Eddie Lacy and Sam Shields are done for this season and perhaps forever in Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy announced Wednesday that neither would be activated off injured reserve. Instead that designation went to undrafted rookie cornerback Makinton Dorleant.

Lacy, the Packers' leading rusher, went on injured reserve on Oct. 20 and subsequently underwent surgery on his left ankle. There was hope at the time that Lacy could return late in the season.

Shields, the Packers' top cornerback, hasn't played since he sustained a concussion in Week 1.
