Newton on Manning's flattery: 'Ink it in gold'

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said Monday night that Panthers star Cam Newton wound be the face of the NFL the next eight to 10 years.

Newton, asked about the comment Monday during Super Bowl 50 Media Night, did not disagree.

"Anything the sheriff says you can probably ink it in gold," Newton said with a smile.

But Newton added he has work ahead on Sunday against Manning and company before thinking about being the face of the league.

Newton arrived in the arena wearing a Gatorade Super Bowl towel wrapped around his head.
