Former St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys defensive end Michael Sam was involved in a verbal confrontation with a man outside a West Hollywood, California, nightclub Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old Sam was the first openly gay player selected in the NFL draft when the Rams took him with the No. 249 overall pick in the seventh round in 2014.
