The Bengals signed linebacker A.J. Hawk as a free agent and drafted Paul Dawson in the third round of the draft, giving them a pair of options to plug into the lineup in the event that Vontaze Burfict’s return from microfracture surgery keeps him sidelined into the regular season.
Those options may come in handy. Coach Marvin Lewis addressed Burfict’s status on Tuesday and it doesn’t sound like there’s much optimism that he’s going to be ready to roll in time for camp.
“Vontaze will be in rehab all the way through the summer,” Lewis said, via Paul Dehner Jr.
