SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday he was "disappointed'' to send rookie safety Ryan Murphy back to Denver after the practice squad player had been detained by police as part of a prostitution sting just a few miles from the team's hotel.
Murphy was sent home Tuesday night, shortly after he was detained and questioned by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Police. The Broncos said Murphy was released at the scene -- a San Jose hotel -- and investigators determined he had not been involved in a crime.
However, Kubiak said the Broncos still elected to send Murphy back to Denver.
