During his retirement press conference on Wednesday, Osi Umenyiora said that a team offered him a contract on Tuesday but he passed because he didn’t want to continue playing unless it was with the Giants.
If Umenyiora’s preference was just to play his home games in MetLife Stadium, he may have opted to continue his playing career.
The Jets were the team that contacted Umenyiora although both Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports and Bob Glauber of Newsday report that the team didn’t make a formal offer to the veteran pass rusher.
