As the end of the season approaches, many teams that have been eliminated will place players on injured reserve due to injuries that would not normally be considered so severe. With that in mind, for the next two weeks we will keep the individual headlines exclusively for players on teams in playoff contention and note players on eliminated teams under the "other injuries" header, unless the injury is severe enough to potentially impact next season.

A torn Achilles against the Eagles has ended the season of recent Texans acquisition Demaryius Thomas, and given how late in the year the injury occurred, Thomas is unlikely to be ready for the start of next season either.
