Just over two weeks after acquiring running back Knile Davis in a trade with the Chiefs, the Packers apparently have seen enough to release him, confirmed by the team on Monday.
NFL Network was first to report.
Davis was acquired Oct. 18 for a conditional late-round draft choice shortly after running back Eddie Lacy was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury that required surgery. After Davis' futile five carries for five yards, along with Don Jackson seeing the bulk of playing time, the Packers apparently evaluated Davis was expendable.
A logical landing spot for Davis could be a return to the Chiefs, as running back Spencer Ware left Sunday's win with a concussion while Jamaal Charles was inactive with knee swelling.
