Former Chargers broadcaster lands a new radio gig quickly

Longtime Chargers fixture Hank Bauer wasn’t out of work for long.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Bauer has joined Sports USA to do syndicated NFL games, days after being let go by the Chargers’ radio flagship station.

Bauer’s contract wasn’t renewed by Clear Channel Media, ending a run of calling Chargers since 1998. He had previously played and coached for them from 1977-86.

He was suspended for one preseason game in 2014 after making an anti-Semitic joke on the air. He apologized and worked the entire regular season.

With Sports USA, he joins a crew of analysts which include former quarterback Jake Plummer, longtime Bears safety Doug Plank and college and NFL coach John Robinson.
