Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes provided a positive update on his ankle injury during Super Bowl opening night on Monday.
"It's definitely in a better position than it was at this time last week," Mahomes told reporters.
Mahomes' health has been a primary storyline of these playoffs, as he temporarily exited the divisional-round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with a high ankle sprain before returning to lead his team to victory.
The 27-year-old played in the AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals and went 29-of-43 for 326 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions despite having limited mobility because of the ankle concerns.
