Chiefs' defense turns in performance that gives Super Bowl hope

Sunday night’s 45-10 blowout of the Cincinnati Bengals was of course about the Chiefs’ brilliant offense. Kareem Hunt was the early tone setter, Patrick Mahomes had another big game and the rest of the playmakers played their weekly parts in this spread-it-around assault gang. The Chiefs rang up 551 yards offense and went over the 30-point mark for the sixth time in seven games.

But this was the first game this season where the defense sent a message: They’re not pushovers.
