Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) surprise Saturday-night addition to injury report

A groin injury has made TE Trey Burton a surprise Saturday-night addition to the injury report, according to the Bears.

Burton started all 16 regular-season games in his first year in Chicago, never appearing on an injury report until receiving a questionable designation on the eve of the playoff clash at Soldier Field with his former team, the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Burton, 27, caught a career-high 54 balls for 569 yards and six touchdowns, which rank second on the team along with his 29 first-down receptions. Burton has been a valuable resource both for Mitch Trubisky, particularly on third downs and in the red zone, and play-caller Matt Nagy because of his ability to line up all over the formation and contribute in many facets.
