Chicago Bears hope to get unsigned top pick Roquan Smith in camp soon

The Bears opened training camp Thursday without top pick Roquan Smith, who remains unsigned and won't report to Bourbonnais before inking his rookie deal.

"We're optimistic he'll be here soon," GM Ryan Pace said in his press conference alongside coach Matt Nagy to begin camp. But Pace added that there's "no time frame" for signing the top pick, who'll eventually ink a deal for four seasons and $18.5 million, plus a team option in Year Five.
