How Many Concussions Have There Been in the NFL This Season?

So, is the NFL doing a better job at cutting down on concussions this season? In the 2012 season, there were 171 concussions reported, with Alex Smith, Michael Vick, Darrelle Revis and Devin Hester among those held out for at least one game after a head injury.

In 2013, we're on pace for a slightly lower number of reported concussions, with 125 having been reported as of December 20. PBS has been tracking concussions in conjunction with their League of Denial documentary on head injuries in the NFL, and you can see a detailed breakdown of the statistics here.
