Under-pressure Newcastle boss Steve Bruce accepts responsibility for 3-0 defeat to Brighton but is 'confident' they can pull clear of the drop zone despite slipping to within two points of 18th place and insists he won't give up

Steve Bruce admitted Newcastle got what they deserved as his side fell to a damaging 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

Leandro Trossard gave the hosts the lead just before half time, and Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay piled on the misery after the break as Brighton pulled four points clear of Newcastle in the table.

The defeat leaves Newcastle in 17th, just two points ahead of Fulham, and the Magpies' boss accepted that he had little to complain about after the match.
