Moussa Sissoko has wanted away from Newcastle United all summer but has become frustrated at the club's £35million valuation of him.
Tottenham Hotspur, though, are now set to test the Magpies' resolve and it is understood that they are in touch with the club over a potential deal.
However, Sportsmail understands that their opening offer is way below the price tag which has hung around Sissoko's neck this close-season.

Newcastle have proven themselves tough negotiators this summer and they will not be bullied by Spurs into selling a player who could remain a valuable asset in the Championship.
