Steve Bruce warns Scotland boss Steve Clarke it would be a 'gamble' picking Ryan Fraser for Euro 2020 with the Newcastle winger desperately needing a 'pre-season' to be fully fit following surgery

Steve Bruce says Scotland would be taking a 'gamble' by picking Ryan Fraser for the European Championship.

The Newcastle winger injured his groin on international duty in March and has not featured since undergoing surgery.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke has lost a string of key players in recent weeks and there is a feeling he will give Fraser every chance to prove his fitness. Clarke will name his 26-man squad on Wednesday.

Ryan Fraser returned to training on Monday for the first time since injuring his groin

But Bruce believes the 27-year-old would perhaps be better served getting a full pre-season under his belt.
