Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez will focus on his side's own performances rather than 'wasting time' by worrying about what their promotion rivals may do.
The Magpies will be knocked off top spot should Brighton win at Blackburn on Tuesday night before they take on Wigan some 24 hours later.
The likes of Reading, Huddersfield, Derby and Leeds will also all looking to keep up the pressure on the leading two sides in midweek.
Benitez, though, admits there is little he can do other than make sure Newcastle continue to deliver the required results, having recovered from defeat at Nottingham Forest to thrash Birmingham 4-0 last time out.
