Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson give critics of the controversial Saudi golf tour more cause for complaint as they tee off with Newcastle chief and the state's Public Investment Fund governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan in a pro-am

Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson have risked further criticism of their decision to join the controversial, Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour by playing in a pro-am with Yasir Al-Rumayyan - the chairman of Newcastle United and the governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

The launch of the breakaway tour has ripped golf apart with Mickelson leading a host of star-studded names including Johnson, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia in the competition's first tournament this week.

American duo Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed have become the latest big-name stars to join the breakaway.
