Newcastle's Siem de Jong set to rejoin Ajax while Emmanuel Riviere is in talks with Metz as Rafa Benitez looks to free up more transfer funds

Newcastle forward Siem de Jong is poised to rejoin Ajax while teammate Emmanuel Riviere is talking over a move to Metz.

Reading had agreed to sign De Jong for £2million on a three-year deal but the 28-year-old has turned down the Championship side and agreed to take a pay cut at Ajax where he spent seven years until joining Newcastle in 2014.

Riviere, 27, signed from Monaco in the summer of 2014, and was told to find a new club this summer by manager Rafa Benitez. He has opened negotiations with French side Metz over a two-year deal.
