Newcastle United are preparing to sell Dwight Gayle to help fund squad strengthening.
Gayle was the club's top scorer last season with 23 goals but has suffered a dip in confidence and had trouble with a hamstring.
He was left out of Saturday's squad to face West Ham, a fixture Newcastle won 3-0 for their first three points of the season.
Gayle had been substituted by Rafa Benitez in both of Newcastle's opening two Premier League fixtures, which resulted in defeats to Tottenham and Huddersfield.
