It might be thought that two of Britain's wealthiest people, meeting to discuss the multi-million pound purchase of a Premier League football club over dinner, would choose an exclusive and expensive restaurant in Soho or Mayfair.

However, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and prospective buyer Amanda Staveley instead discussed a deal over a curry which could have cost as little as £6.45.

The pair were pictured leaving Paradise Indian restaurant in Hampstead, north west London, on Wednesday night, having talked over Staveley's £300m bid for Ashley's United.
