Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow was admitted to hospital with Covid infection after he became dehydrated - 30-year-old stopper is slowly improving but warns the illness has been 'awful' and 'we still need to be careful'

Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is recovering at home after he was hospitalised with Covid 19.

The Toon stopper contracted the virus around two weeks ago and became increasingly dehydrated, before he was taken into hospital, it has been reported.

'The last week has been pretty awful - but I'm slowly improving. This shows we still need to be very careful.' Darlow, 30, told Sky Sports.
