Newcastle have received a transfer blow after Nicolas Pepe agreed a deal with Lille.
The Angers forward had emerged as one of Newcastle's top summer targets after an impressive season in Ligue 1 last term.
But, despite interest from the north east of England, Pepe has decided to remain in France by joining Lille, who will pay around £7m.
After penning a five-year deal with Lille, Pepe told the club's official website: "Today, I'm sure I made the right choice.
"The coming of Marcelo Bielsa was an important element when making my decision.
