Newcastle takeover deal hit by second piracy storm as FA write to Saudi Arabia's state-owned KSA Sports to demand they ditch 'illegal broadcast' of old FA Cup matches involving North East club

The Football Association have written to Saudi Arabia's main TV sports station to threaten legal action over the illegal broadcasting of vintage FA Cup matches involving Newcastle United.

KSA Sports, the state-owned sports channel in the country, received a letter from English football's governing body who accused them of stealing FA footage to broadcast matches from the Alan Shearer era.

The letter states this is a clear infringement of the FA's property rights despite the broadcasted matches being old games.

The FA copied in the Premier League to the letter for Saudi Arabia's state-owned TV station

The FA also copied in the Saudi government and the Premier League into the letter, which was seen by The Times, and it could prove damaging to the Saudi-backed consortium looking to complete a £300million takeover of the north-east club this year.
