Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic facing three-match ban after being charged by the FA for elbowing Manuel Lanzini

Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been hit with a violent conduct charge by the Football Association for an alleged elbow on West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini.

The Serbian appeared to clash with the Argentinian midfielder in the 80th minute of Saturday’s game at St James’ Park, shortly before he scored his side’ s last goal in their 3-0 win.

A club statement confirmed: ‘He has until 6pm on August 30, 2017 to respond to the charge.
