Newcastle legend Alan Shearer revealed he warned Steve Bruce against taking the 'toxic' managerial position at St James' Park.
Bruce was officially appointed manager of Newcastle on Wednesday morning, replacing Rafa Benitez who walked out on the club after failing to agree terms on a fresh contract.
Benitez's shock departure left fans furious with owner Mike Ashley and the confirmation of Bruce has not gone down well with supporters, with many instantly questioning his credentials.
And Shearer, writing in his column with the Sun, insists he is facing an almost impossible task at St James' Park working alongside under-fire owner Ashley.
