Newcastle left baffled by Liverpool's £110m lowball offer for Alexander Isak - feeling Reds have 'strung along' the striker and 'bottled' second bid

Alexander Isak has been left sweating on his dream move to Liverpool after they lowballed Newcastle with an opening offer and then claimed they were walking away, with sources believing they have ‘strung along’ the striker.

The Premier League champions have had a formal bid of £110million rejected by Newcastle, going in with a figure £10m less than what they had offered informally last month.

Liverpool have subsequently said that the nature of the rebuttal means they will not be returning with a second offer, even though they would have known the approach was going to be rejected.
