Newcastle United are in ‘early talks’ over a move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Sources have confirmed the 26-year-old is one target they are pursuing but have stressed it could prove a ‘difficult’ deal to do. A package in the region of £50million is being explored. Inter are likely to want more and it is not yet known if Barella is keen on a move to St James’ Park.
The club’s scouts have watched several Serie A matches in recent months, with Inter left-back Federico Dimarco and Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali also on their radar.
