Newcastle United have asked about Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis.
All transfer deals are on hold at Newcastle while their takeover negotiations continue to rumble on but they have posted interest in a number of players with highly-rated Florentino among the latest.
AC Milan have been leading negotiations for the 20-year-old Portuguese holding player who has been nicknamed 'the Octopus' though they are understood to want a deal where they take him on a season loan and pay around £35million next year.
The Portugal U20 international has also been followed closely by Manchester City, United and Bayer Leverkusen.
