Newcastle could become latest side to make furlough U-turn on non-playing staff once £300m takeover from Mike Ashley is complete

The Toon, under the ownership of Mike Ashley, were controversially the first club to announce their intention to use the scheme which sees the government pay 80 per cent of a company's staff wages up until £2,500.

But the prospective takeover led by Amanda Staveley for a Saudi Arabian backed bid are assessing making a widely popular move by scrapping the scheme launched off the back of the coronavirus outbreak.
