Newcastle United are awaiting the outcome of a meeting over the future of Pepe Reina.
Napoli and the goalkeeper's agent Manuel Quillon held a meeting in Rome on Thursday afternoon with the 34-year-old former Liverpool keeper ready to leave Serie A.
Napoli do not wish to extend his contract while Newcastle are willing to offer a two year deal.
Quillon is understood to have held talks with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis at his Filmauro company offices.
