Matty Longstaff 'rejects increased offer of more than £20,000 a week to stay at Newcastle' as midfielder closes in on shock free transfer to Udinese after being offered deal to become the club's highest paid player

Matty Longstaff has turned down an increased contract offer from Newcastle and is expected to join Italian side Udinese this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The Italian side have offered the young midfielder the chance to become their highest paid player on £30,000 a week - a huge increase on his current weekly wage of just £800.

After seeing Longstaff reject their previous offer of £15,000 a week, Newcastle reportedly upped their package to more than £20,000 a week in a bid to stop him leaving for free when his contract expires on June 30.
