Given what English football has just been through, it seems strange to advocate for another group of wealthy owners coming into our game.

Yet wealthy owners alone are not the problem. Wealthy owners have created the most open and exciting domestic competition in Europe. Leicester have wealthy owners, West Ham have wealthy owners. Not as wealthy as Manchester City and Chelsea, obviously, but it all helps.

It is an influx of wealthy owners that has terrified the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, whose proprietors seek to make their money from investment in sport.
