A man has been charged with committing a racial offence against Everton players during a Premier League football game, Merseyside Police said.

The incident allegedly saw Tyler Gordon, 26, from Newcastle, directing racist abuse at several players during a match against Newcastle at Goodison Park, on 27 April.

Police arrested him at the stadium and he has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

He has since been conditionally bailed.

Mr Gordon is expected to appear at Sefton Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 30 August, police said.
