Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has warned Jamaal Lascelles not to believe his own publicity if he is to catch the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate.
The 23-year-old central defender is in the form of his life after blossoming during the Magpies' early weeks back in the Premier League, scoring winning goals in each of the club's last two games.
Such has been his contribution to Newcastle's three-game winning run that he has been mentioned tentatively in some quarters as a potential candidate for Southgate's senior squad, although Benitez is keen to keep the former Nottingham Forest trainee's feet firmly on the ground.
